Slavery- Slavery started in America in 1619 in JamesTown the point of slavery in America was to was to aide the production of cash crops like tobacco and cotton. Slavery was enforced by slave patrollers, slave patrollers were groups of white men who would watched and disciplined slaves, make sure slaves would not get away also patrol rivers for boats. The personal impact of slavery had on African Americans was depression/sorrow to Africans taken from their homes and separated from their families or African’s killed by disease and famine. The slaves impact on the south was stronger than it was in the north because the South’s economy depended on the slaves doing the hard jobs like picking cotton and tobacco etc. in the hot sun rather than in the north because the north's economy was a industrial economy and most slaves in the north were indentured servants or worked in the government. The reason why slavery is important is because America's economy was built on slavery America's biggest export was cotton and who picked cotton the slaves another reason slavery was important was because it led to the civil war and if it wasn't for the Civil war America wouldn't be unified the south and the north would still be in turmoil.
