Jim Crow Laws
Jim Crow Laws- The Jim Crow Laws were passed in former confederate states in 1890 and the laws lasted until 1965. The Jim Crow laws were in forced in small towns and cities. The Jim Crow laws were passed after the Civil War in former confederate states to segregate Caucasians from African Americans. Examples of the Jim Crow Laws are Caucasians and African Americans had separated schools/bathrooms/water fountains/restaurants/public transportation. African American facilities were meant to be separate be equal to Caucasian facilities but were not and that is why congress abolished the Jim Crow laws in 1965. The effects of the Jim Crow Laws were that African American’s were stripped of their rights to have equal housing/jobs/ and participation in government compared to Caucasians.
