Abolitionist Movement
From 1830s’s-1870, the abolitionist movement tried to achieve immediate liberation of all slaves and put an end to racial discrimination and segregation. In 1840 abolitionists grew more pronounced in their requests, and plantation owners entrenched in response. Which fueled the tension between the north and south. That ultimately led to the American Civil War.
