13, 14, & 15 Amendments
The 13th amendment passed on December 6th, 1865. The 13th amendment put an end to slavery and to this very day still prohibits slavery. The 13th amendment also prohibits involuntary servitude, unless it is a punishment for crime. The effects of the 13th amendment is it finally gave African American’s the freedom they deserve as human beings and America was united again also it caused new farming inventions because there was a lack of labor in the south. The 14thamendment was ratified on July 9th, 1868. The 14th amendment gave civil and legal rights and citizenship to African Americans and slaves who were liberated during the civil war. The effects of 14thamendment is it gave citizenship to former indentured servants and slaves. The 15th amendment was added to the United States constitution on March 30th,1870 and was passed the previous year. The 15th amendment gave African American Males the right to vote (but it had little impact in the south). The effects of the 15thamendment is it increased African Americans voter registration and put a stop to voting discrimination.
